Starting the MenuDAQ application from the CPPM server.
Out of three possibilities (Applet, Application, Webstart),
the
Java Web Start
Method has been retained as the optimal
startup for newcomers and casual users.
Experts please refer to the
CaloDAQ Homepage at DESY.
The runtime environemnt of
J2SE 1.3
or higher or a complient environment must be installed on your computer
for that.
You can launch the
menudaq application
directly from your browser (also outside DESY and CPPM)
if the Java Web Start
is installed on your machine.
Java Web Start is installed at DESY.
If it is not installed centrally on your machine,
you need to install it personnally from your local Java installation,
which is quite easy, if you :
- Find the file
javaws-*.zip
file in your Java directory
(which java
, typically in the subdirectory jre/
).
- Copy it to your directory and extract it (
unzip
).
- Execute the
install.sh
file.
(Just type ./install.sh
.)
- Eventually close your browser. Then open your browser.
- Get back to this page and click on the pointer
()
above.
If your Java version is older, then you need to download it from the
Java Web Start
page at Sun.Com.
